Asha March Update

It's been a fantastic month for Asha. We have new t-shirts and a spectacular banner, made by Asha residents. The march along Oxford Street was an invigorating experience and it was such a privilege to march in solidarity with so many women campaigning for equality, The Women of the World Festival at the Southbank Centre was a truly exciting 3 days culminating in Dr Sundari Anitha's appearance on the Domestic Violence panel, where she represented Asha's stance on gender violence brilliantly.

We are also working with the Home Office on the new legislation on Forced Marriage to try and ensure that despite the criminalisation of Forced Marriage in the UK, it does not deter women from coming forwards. We also supported the 100 More Police for Lambeth campaign this month, urging Boris Johnson to create a safer borough by dedicating 100 more police officers.

We are excited that Asha's Advice and Advocacy service is now up and running. For confidential advice and information you can contact us on 0208 696 0023 or email on advice@asha.org.uk

Wishing everybody a peaceful Easter weekend,

Asha
